Lentetuin, a preview from the spring in Breezand Mar 04, 2009
If I literally translate Lentetuin, it would be springgarden.

The lentetuin is once a year in March. Everybody looking forward to it! All bulbcultivators do their absolute best to grow their most beautiful and perfect flowers. They can show them at the lentetuin. A official jury examinates the exhibited flowers and gives the flowers points. Every flower starts with 100 points, if the jury is seeing something not perfect, the flower gets reduction in points. The cultivator with the winning flower gets the trophy. It's quite important, because he's the best cultivator of Noord-Holland.

Every year the exhibition has a different theme, for example: japan, prehistoric, amsterdam, VOC and many more. It's build by volunteers during 2 weeks and looks like a big garden with historical/monumental pieces. It amazes me every year again.

Beside the garden, there's a expo for company's which are related to the agricultural sector. Everybody checks it to chat with eachother and drink one together till the morning :). The lentetuin attracts thousands of toerist to my hometown. I higly recommend this sight. It's Breezand at its finest!
