Most bang for your buck hostel in the best location, right by the beach :) Feb 26, 2012
A few quick pluses, most buses drop you off on the hostels corner from the airport and bus station, which is important for the mere fact of being a solo female that doesn't "fala portugese." Be sure to ask the bus driver "praia leblon?" so u know you're going to the right area. The hostel is a block away from leblon beach and impanema, which are the two most lively beaches in rio. This hostel welcomes you with a free caparhina also! I had to be buzzed in by security.. I took an overnight bus from sao Paulo and arrived 7am (oops), BUT these guys let me crash on the bean bags in the common room as I watched tv and ate free breakfast (every morning, and really good quality, not just toast and hard boiled eggs) before check in. The lockers were huge, the shower water was hot, and the entire staff spoke English. The linen and rooms were clean, for a hostel. They had free wifi and computers, a full bar, and helped you get where you needed to go. One word of advice though, they have an underground metro system that gets you where you need to safer, quicker, and easier than city buses. Fully recommend this spot! Great for solo travelers!

The most fun you can have in Rio! Jun 06, 2011
This is a hostel I will never forget. It is one block from the beach in Ipanema, and the staff is INCREDIBLE. They are so friendly and welcoming. I still keep in touch with Nino, the bartender. The rooms were kind of stuffy and had triple bunk beds, but the social element of the hostel completely compensated for the satisfactory rooms. There is great security; all the lockers are in a room with a security camera (they are small for your valuables; your luggage would be in your room and not in a locker though). They give you a welcome capirinha. They are great! I want to go back to Rio just to stay there!

Great Hostel!! Loved it! Mar 31, 2011
Lemon Spirit was fantastic!! The 9 bed dorms are very simple and clean, the beds are comfortable and the sheets are good quality! There are a ton of bathrooms that are kept pretty clean. There is free filtered water here which is convenient too, though the breakfast is pretty standard (watermelon, ham and cheese)

By far the most fun hostel I stayed at throughout my trip - the patio and bar area are a great place to meet other travelers. Can't beat being that close to the beach!! The area felt super safe as well - even stumbling home at 5am :)

I found the staff to be super helpful too! Thanks guys!

It's a few dollars more expensive than the surrounding hostels, but in a much nicer and safer area.

Very well located hostel in Rio Jan 16, 2011
This is probably the best located hostel in Rio, one block from the beach, surrounded by cool bars, cafés, bookshops and restaurants. Walking distance to the Lagoon and Ipanema beach.

In the safest neighborhood of Rio, both bohemian and sophisticated, Leblon is the place where movie stars, musicians and authorities such as the governor of Rio chose to live.
