Le Train Bleu Paris Reviews
Le Train Bleu - a special parisian experience Sep 14, 2012
Le Train Bleu is a very expensive restaurant but it's a great experience to have dinner there. It's located in Gare de Lyon.
The interior is very bombastic but aesthetic. It is the paintings that capture one’s attention right from the start. There are 41 paintings depicting, naturally, rail network sites and also events in 1900. The restaurant was opened in April 1901. When you enter the restaurant you'll be overwhelmed by its ambience.
We were lucky to get a dinner invitation so the meal didn't cost us a cent :D
The dinner as well as the wine was great and I can recommend to go there if you're in Paris.
We had tartar from salmon with lime and coconut milk accompanied by fried bread and a leaf lettuce bouquet with olive oil as a starter. Of course we had white wine with the course.
The main course was fried breast from duck with honey and ginger, sweet potatoe and potatoes cooked "au gratin". We had red wine with the main course.
The intermediate course was Brie de Meaux which was very good. A rosè wine accompanied the cheese.
Last but not least the desert which was awesome. We had roast apple on Breton shortpastry, caramel with salted butter and appel sorbet (sherbet).
After desert we had some coffee.
Dinner was about 2 1/2 hours and we were too full to get up but since the restaurant wanted to close we had to ;)
