Le Quay Saint Tropez Reviews
Worth a repeat visit...but stay on guard! Mar 17, 2012
Le Quay. Saint Tropez's very own Cheers bar, where everyone knows (or wants to know) your name..that's if you are going to be spending lots of money.
The bar/club itself is very small. It's pretty much a square shape with a bar running through the middle. Not much room to move, the dance floor is small, the music is generally good. Expect most evenings to be VERY busy (remember, this is Saint Tropez where everyone is rich and no-one really works!). Crowd are an interesting mix from across Europe, young and old. Always good to see who has a table, most people seem to be celebrating something! Head over and start dancing around there and before you know it someone might just pass you a glass of Cristal.
There is also a bit at the front of the club which is a place away from the madness and has seats and tables...
Entertainment usually consisted of street dancers/performers and some live singers (who came to our table and let us take the mic!).
Be VERY careful if you are splashing the cash. We ended up with a 2400 euro bar bill due to some sneaky waitering. We'd arranged to have a table for our final night there. When you get a table you are expected to buy something from the top range. We opted for Cristal, but we were being charged for 1000 Euro magnum. Whenever you order a bottle, the music stops and the lights go on your table...then enter the waiters with sparklers in tow with your bottle...and something along the lines of the Rocky theme tune. It's nice to have the whole clubs attention on you for 20 seconds...perhaps being in the spotlight gave them an opportunity to 'not really hear' what our original order was.
Drinks at the bar as well tend to be a bit watered down..
We got to meet the owners while we were there who were a lovely bunch and due to our excessive spend (all be it unintentionally) offered us a complimentary bottle of Cristal.
Daytime, food is average. Don't expect too many choices.
Pro's: Good music, nice vibe, plenty of opportunities to be noticed when you have a table.
Con's: too busy for a small club, average food, dodgy waiters, watered down drink.
