Worst Hotel I've Ever Stayed Feb 15, 2009
Stayed here on February 2009. Booked this hotel cos' they offer a very competitive internet rate (only RM99 inclusive of breakfast). However, the horror begins before i even set foot on this hotel. I tried to call the hotel to confirm my online booking. The first time i called, nobody pick up the phone for at least 10 minutes. When somebody did pick it up, the staff was asked me what do i want (in a very curt way) and then i said i wanted to confirm my internet booking. So she transferred my call to another person (without telling me clearly) and nobody pick up the phone after that. I waited for almost 10 minutes. I hung up and called again 30 mins later. Same thing, my call was transfered but the staff who picked up me call said i should call back later cos' it's lunch hour! Finally, on my third attempt, i managed to call and someone managed to "entertain" my request. But when i asked about direction to the hotel, she just said, "Just follow the road sign to PD town" and hung up!
The horror continues when i checked in. The Front Desk staffs were very unfriendly and they were speaking to themselves in Tamil when they processed my checking in. The staff asked me if i brought along the printed confirmation e-mail but i left it in the car thinking it is unnecessary since i've already confirmed the booking by calling them (3 times). She gave me the "unfriendly" look and said that they need some form of confirmation from me. Hey, hello, isn't my name in your system or something and you've my ID card. The horror reached its peak when i got my room key and check into the room. Like most hotel, you have to slot in the keycard into the special slot in order for the electricity to be connected. I did the usual but there was no electricity. I tried couple of times still, nothing was on. So i called the Front Desk and complained. She said "didn't we gave you another card for the electricity?". I said "NO", i have only 1 card. Apparently, they need 2 kind of card, 1 for opening the door, the other for the elecltricity. So they send a guy to give me the other card. When i enter the bathroom to check the water and the bath tub. The water is so dirty. And there wasn't any stopper for the bath tub. So again i call the Front Desk to complain. They don't seem to understand my question but still they send a repair guy to check what happened. When the repair guy came, i explained to him what i want. I want to use the bath tub. He said, i should ask the Housekeeping for a stopper and walked away. So i called the housekeeping, nobody pick up the phone. I got fed up and called the Front Desk and complained to them what had happened (that the repaor guy didn't do anything but told me to contact the Housekeeping and nobody at Housekeeping pick up my phone). The Front Desk staff promised that she'll send someone to attend to my complaint. But guess what, NOBODY came. Me and my girlfriend were waiting like an idiot for them for more than 30mins. Being fed up again, i ran to the Front Desk to complain. On my way, i bumped into the cleaning lady (Housekeeping) and asked if she has a stopper. She doesn't have any with her but she entered a room and took it from the room's bath tub. (she's the only friendly and useful hotel staff in the hotel). At the same time i asked why there wasn't any tea bags and sugar in my room, she said the Hotel ran out of tea bags. This is the first hotel i stayed that doesn't provide tea bags (even 2 star hotel have them) and the worse is that they didn't order it on time to replenish their stock. When my girlfriend checked the TV, she noticed that the reception was bad and there wasn't any ASTRO channel (satelitte TV) installed. So again, i called the Front Desk and asked if the Hotel does have ASTRO installed or not. They said yes, and i said i didn't get any. so they send the same repair guy to check my TV. He was in my room for around 10 minutes trying to install the channels but it doesn't work. He left and promised to come back to fix it. He NEVER came back. Finally, being fed up with everything, we went to the swimming pool to swim. The water was yellowish in color. And there were a lot of people (especially kids) in the pool. And all of them were fully clothed with normal t-shirts and pants. Next stop was the beach. The cleanliness of the beach is good but the sea is dirty. The next day, we went down to have our breakfast. The choice is very limited and the food was just ok. I would not recommend this hotel. The hotel staff are rude, very unfriendly, and not helpful. Everytime i call them, i feel (from their tone of voice etc) that they were thinking that i'm annoying them and i'm a pest). |

Le Paris Hotel & Resort formerly known as Costa Rica Hotel & Apartments Port Dickson Aug 11, 2008
Went to Prt Dickson with a bunch of friends from a place i work part time for. I think about more than 20 of us. Took a car ride (about 2 hour drive) from KLCC to the hotel.
I think it used to be an apartment building with a few of the apartments still belong to owners/tenants. But the overall place is not bad and acceptable. The lobby was not impressive but they do have a big pot of air sirap for the welcoming drink which all of us guzzled because of the heat. First thing i saw was the infinity pool which i thought was cool. It was overcrowded with kids since it was a weekend. We stayed in a three bedroom apartment which cost about 250++ (maybe more, i forgot the actual price) per night. We had a great view of the beach, oil tanker and the pool. We even got shots of the sunset that evening. It was amazing. We went for bowling (they have their own alley on the third floor. Not bad, they have 6 lanes if I'm not mistaken. And it cost around RM4.00 per game. The place also have electronic games and others. After that we went to the beach to play volleyball. Unfortunately there was a group of people preparign their BBQ nearby and they got mad at us because the ball kept bouncing of their heads, butts and food. It's not like we can move the net so we gave up after 1/2 an hour or so. But we had fun nonetheless. After that i headed out to the sea. Unfortunately the water wasn't that great because of the big ships around. We guess they were oil or gas tanker because there are Shell building around the place. So, anyway, no swimming in the sea for this trip. Bummer. That night we had BBQ near the beach. It was fun, the lights from the tanker were marvelously pretty, the food was good, the company were good. We had fun. When i wen to sleep that night the bed felt good eventhough the pillow was a bit flat. I woke up early the next morning at went straight to the pool. At last only four of us managed to wake up. So, I had fun testing my swimming skill at the 1.5m level. The water was unfortunately yellow and there were a lot, and i mean a lot of kids. All in all, i think it's a pretty decent place. Exceptional if you count tha fact that they have a bowling alley and an infinity pool. It's just a 5 minute walk from Port Dickson town and you can drive to Teluk Kemang if you want to. Staff were pretty helpful too. I liked it. |
