Ferdinand Cheval was a mailman who one day picked up a stone and had a vision. He decided to create a fantastical palace. Everyday on his walks he gathered stones until he constructed with them the Palais Ideal. It is truly a humbling site and one that will forever be etched in memory for those fortunate to see it in person. No photo could possibly do this stunning place justice. Anyone who is able to take this side trip while in France should do so.
