Worth a visit just to see the sunset! Jan 19, 2014
I stayed at Le Meridien for 9 nights early in January 2014. Check in was friendly and efficient and I was upgraded to a suite. The suite comprised two rooms and was only slightly smaller than a tennis court. Facing east and looking back towards the city and hills I left the curtains open at night and was woken each morning by the sunrise.

After a long trip I went first to the gym and pool to freshen up. The gym was reasonably well equipped and well maintained. The pool was clean and refreshing. The staff at the pool deck were attentive and friendly.

One of the best features of the hotel is the KK Waterfront, right outside the hotel. There is a great night market with dozens of hawker stalls serving an array of local seafood at unbelievably good prices. I had garlic mantis prawns with local greens anbd rice and had change from RM40.

Also on the Watterfront are a variety of bars and restaurants. THe best seats are outside on the deck where you can look out over the South China Sea and enjoy the breeze as well as a cold beer. The Cock and Bull is famous for live music although a number of other bars also feature bands. The music is mostly covers.

The best feature of the KK Le Meridien is the view of the sunset from either the pool deck or the lounge on the 12th floor. It is worth staying just to see the sun going down over the islands of Sabah. One local person asked me if we did not have sunsets in Australia. I could only say that we do, but nothing quite like this. See the pictures.

Tip: You can go to Jessleton Point to catch boats out to the islands ((Gaya, Manukan, Sapi, Sulug and Mamutik), but there is an unofficial pick up right on the Waterfront behind where the night market sets up. From memory, a trip to Manukan was about RM 20 return.

Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu is located on the KK Waterfront area in downton KK and is a 20-30 minute ride from the airport - the taxi during the day will cost RM30. Between midnighht and 6.00AM the fare is RM50.

The hotel will be undergoing refurbishment in 2014.

Highly recommended. Would stay again.

Nice view in the middle of downtown Nov 12, 2012
While Le Meridien is not the only five star hotel in Kota Kinabalu, it has the best location for shopping and walking around the downtown district.

If you have Starwood points you can get an upgrade to a better room with the sea view instead of the street view. The sea view also overlooks the night market at the waterfront which was amazing to watch from an elevated and street level.

The rooms are comfortably large, and there is space for a rollaway bed if required. The superior room is about 41 sqm. while the deluxe room is about 44 sqm. I recommend the deluxe rooms primarily because of the view.

Le Méridien Hotel Jun 17, 2011
The hotel rooms are very elegant and spacious. If you love watching the sun rise and set, this hotel offers the best views. You may also see views of the South China sea and the cityscape. All the guest rooms offer comfort through its facilities and technology. There's also a complimentary continental breakfast that offer a wide variety of great foods.

Hotel with a view Mar 04, 2009
Had a business trip to KK recently, my companies panel hotel is Le Meridian KK. It is a 5* hotel, so cant complain! :)

This is what one would due in absolute boredom! Taking pictures and writing a review.

The hotel was facing the sea and had a great view. The service was good, rooms were really clean, most of all, there have lotsa channels to watch! :)

I ordered room service and pig out on the bed. It was really comfortable! :)

I would recommend anyone who is visiting Kota Kinabalu to stay in this hotel! Not only its near town, it is just across the oceam, just the view, is worth it!
