Last week I would have had nothing but good things to say about this chain of restaurants with a location on the Cours Saleya in Nice (and 2 on the Champs Elysées in Paris).

They serve standard fare, entrées, pasta, bistrot style meat and their specialty is all you can eat beef or salmon carpaccio.

My biggest quibble is with the service. We took the 30 minute lunch special yesterday and waited... 2 hours. It's lucky we weren't really in a rush because the service was absolutely terrible. They also managed to badly mess up the bill (adding deserts which we didn't have) which took a further 30 minutes to clear up.

And last night 2 of the people at our table were sick. E. Coli anyone?

I don't know if the problem is the seasonal staff or the really warm weather, but I can't recommend Le Bistrot Romain right at this moment.
