Amazing town in a rather neglected county Aug 22, 2012
Until this month (August 2012) I had only been in Suffolk twice - en route for National Service in Germany and it was dark so I had no idea of the county. I call it rather neglected because by and large not many other than Constable addicts would list it among their favourite counties.

However, while visiting friends in Boxford, itself a lovely little town, I was taken to see Lavenham. There's no denying that it is well on the tourist trail for those who visit Suffolk at all and it deserves to be. The town was truly wealthy in the middle ages, based on the cloth trade and a building well worth seeing is the Guildhall. Others are Little Hall and the church. However it is the plethora of unmarked old houses, leaning in every direction, that makes the town exceptional.

Agree a lovely village. I've stayed there a couple of times, amusingly also when visiting Boxford (for work). The Swan was a lovely/quaint hotel with delicious afternoon teas. :-)
