It really is the best Mexican food in town Nov 25, 2009
Ok, so I thought it was a Cuban restaurant, but I guess it's Mexican. They have an extensive menu. They have the regular finger food (taco, enchiladas, quesadilla) and then they have great plated food (I always order the Bistec Cubano!)

In the summer, it's great to either sit upstairs on the 3rd floor on the outdoor deck or outside near the sidewalk. It is crowded in the summer and Lauriol Plaza doesn't take reservations. If you go in a group, they will not seat anyone unless the whole group is there (so don't tell them you have 10 people when only 3 are there, you will have to wait until the until 7 show up).

They have the BEST frozen margaritas...whether it's summer or winter! Street parking is a bit of a bummer if the parking lot is full. This restaurant is just south of the U street corridor where it joins the bottom of Adam's Morgan.

Amazing upscale Mexican and Salvadorian food Sep 28, 2009
First off, if you get there after 7pm or with a large group, you'll have to wait a little while. for a table. But not to fear, the waiting room just so happens to be next to the bar! Enjoy a margarita or Dos XX while waiting for your buzzer to go off.

Once seated, go for a pitcher of margarita. Let's face it, you're probably going to drink that much anyway if you stuck to individual glasses. Plus, the "swirly" margarita looks cool in a pitcher.

The menu ranges from standard Mexican and Salvadorian fare to more upscale selections, like quail (which is delicious, by the way). I've been here a dozen times and have never been disappointed by anything. Especially good is the Mariscos Saltado, a dish with Peruvian origins with shrimp, scallops, tomatoes, onions, jalapeƱo peppers and potatoes sauteed in a special sauce.

Yeah, I linked it to my blog and it automatically put that in as the date. If we're really going back to the first time I went there, it would say 2007 :)

I'm confused. This popped up as a new review, but I see the date says 2009. Anywho, glad you liked it.
