Hostel/farm with a view of the Macgillycuddy's Reeks Mar 29, 2012
The owner was hilarious, an older cheeky lady. Apparently this is a very popular all-year-around place to stay for mountaineers and hikers. It is very close to the Macgillycuddy's Reeks, you can see the mountains from the courtyard. As the weather is pretty much unpredictable in this part of Ireland, it serves as a good weather forecast. Only way of judging if the mountains are suitable to climb that day is to be there. The place is quite basic, big kitchen area and some beds. The bathroom had quite a few spiders in it. Apart from that, pretty clean. No WiFi - you're truly out in the countryside. There's not a whole lot to do in Killorglin, a few bars/restaurants. You'd only stay here if you want to explore nature. Otherwise you'd be in Killarney.
