Lauenburg, Germany
Lauenburg, Altstadt - Maria Magdalenen church in the morning mist.
Lauenburg, Altstadt - Lauenburg from the other side of the river. (Also during the flood, the water is not usually this high)
Lauenburg, Altstadt - This is what it looks like when the 'Elbe' floods.

When visiting Northern Germany this little town is worth a day trip.

There's plenty to see:

In the historic part of the town every house is a joy to look at. Most of the timber-framed houses are renovated. There is also the church "Maria Magdalena", which doors are often open to the public.

From the "Rufer Platz" you can go on boat trips either on tourist boats or on a traditional paddle-steamer "Kaiser Wilhelm" (reservation advised).

The old castle tower can be mounted and the view from there is beautiful.

You can see the river "Elbe", which is one of the biggest rivers in Germany and can also become a dangerous one as you can see in my pictures. There's also reastaurants and bars in the historic part of the city.
