L'assiette au Boeuf Metz Reviews
When in Metz, L'assiette au Boeuf is a great option ! Oct 19, 2013
Metz the discreet, is how I call this wonderful city even "confidential" by French standards since, unlike her famous neighbour City of Strasbourg, Metz is virtually unknown or publicised in France and beyond.
Which is a real shame since the City of Metz has more than 40 remarkable sites of interest including a Medieval district, the magnificent St Etienne Cathedral which has the largest surface of stained glass windows in Europe, and deligtful islands in the heart of the Moselle river which runs through it with monuments such as the classic 18th century Opera House on the Island of Saulcy and the Protestant New Temple which in the early Autumn certainly is one of the most picturesque and iconic sites of Metz.
And the restaurant "L'Assiette au Bœuf" enjoys a fantastic location right on the river with great views over the City and best of all offers a great set menu of only 16.90 Euros which includes a Wallnut Salad with Foie Gras and a choice of 5 yummy main dishes including their famous Beef Fillet Sauce Paradis ! A great value for money in order to avoid the "I have enjoyed the view, nos it is time to enjoy the price" kind of feeling, since you know exactly what you will pay upon check out and with a location such like this one, a lunch by the Moselle river is a real treat !
The Owner Henriette is a dynamic young women who looks after her customers with a vigilant and Professional eye and will set a table on the terrace, if you kindly ask her to, just like I did on this warm day of mid Autumn last year...
I remember her telling me that when someone sits outside on a terrace that was not supposed to be opened on that day, it immediately draw people in and the fact is that within 30 minutes, the terrace was full and buzzing with the sound of happy conversations of people enjoying the last sunshine of the Autumn by the river !
Metz really is worth a visit the next tile you will be in the region !
