We spent 3 days at Montpellier, in France. I love this city, I spent a lot of my holidays there and the near beaches (Palavas-Les-Flots, La Grande-Motte, Frontignan, Marseillan-Plage, Le Grau du Roi...)

The first day we did the city of nimes.   First we saw The Maison Carrée,  a well preserved Roman temple built in 19-16 BC.   Then we headed on over the the Amphitheatre, another well preserved structure from the roman Empire.  After walking around the city we headed out to Pont Du Gard.   That is the aqueduct built by the romans.

Getting closer to Barcelona
posted by:

I arrived in Perpignan late in the evening after doing one stretch from Basel where I had stayed with my brother.  When I passed Lyon the weather got better and better. It was still pretty warm there and I was driving around to find a small hotel,; I didn’t need anything special because I had booked a good 4 star hotel in Barcelona the following day, I just needed a bed. I found a small hotel with a very cheap rent and a place to park my car 2 km from the city centre, which I didn’t ...

Pros about France: -the bread is superb -you can walk down any street and find said bread in about 3 different locations -they have better cheese -they say funny things like "oohhh la la" - really, they actually do say that -every city here is infinitely more walkable than pretty much every american city -system of public transportation is WAY better...trains, buses, trams...we should learn from the europeans -"drinking age" is 18, but i've never actually seen them card anybody...they...

Carcassonne

A FAIRY-TALE!!! The first view of the upper town of Carcassonne is the best. You'll get surprised by the look, does this still exist? YES IT DOES!!! Perched high above the river Aude, the Cité is a must see for every visitor nearby. Don't be fooled though, this UNESCO world heritage site is only a 19th-century restoration by Viollet-le-Duc. He recreated a magnificent citadel with stout ramparts and pennant-capped towers. The medieval looks makes it unique. Thanks to Kate Mosse and her bril...

Twenty Minutes in France

Bourg-Madame, France is a quaint little border town just past Spain's Tunel de Cadi in the Pyrenees Mountains.  We stopped here for a brief break and to take some photos.  Had there not been a sign indicating that we had entered France, we would have never known that we crossed to border until we saw some signs written in French. Bourg-Madame is part of the Cerdanya, a region in the Eastern Pyrenees that is 1/2 French and 1/2 Spanish.  I hadn't realized it until this trip tha...

Nice, France -› Monaco -› ...
Quite an exciting day in the end! After the Pont du Gard we headed to Nimes, where we stopped off to look at the Roman amphitheatre and a Roman temple. They're both pretty much intact, and the amphitheatre is particularly impressive. You can climb right to the top of the seating, which is pretty high. The fun started as we headed out of Nimes towards the Camargue. This was the point at which I inadvertently ran a red light and got pulled over by the police. Oops! It took quite a lot of talk...

Even in winter Montpellier is such a beautiful town ...all the small are illuminated by Xmas lights hanging over the streets and though you will never have white Christmas the mulled wine is as enjoyable as ever. The Christmas market is pretty small and seems kind of missplaced in Southern France but can be still fun to explore witha couple of friends.

After a few hours in my sisters Yaris, on the beautifull highways of France surounded by lavender and sunflower fields we arrived in Carcassonne under a burning sun and 36 degres! The maps were very helpfull and so was the A/C!! We quickly dumped our bags at the hotel and headed straight to the "Cité". Carcassonne is a medieval fortress composed of a cathedral, castel and small village build within the walls. Its history and modifications made throughout the years only&...
