Langholmens Vandrarhem STF/HI Reviews - Stockholm

This hostel used to be a penitentiary for women. It was not turned into a hostel until the 20th century. The restoration of the facility is amazing.
The facility may be difficult to find but it is worth it. It is the main attraction on Långholmen Island. There is a museum within the facility that is FREE to all guests. In order to access the museum, which is open daily from 1100-1600, you must request the key code from the reception staff.
The rooms are not meant for more than 2 people. Some rooms come equipped with a private bathroom with a shower and color television with free cable channels.
In the hallway, there are tables where you can relax or even play checkers and/or chess. There is no lock-out, which is a plus.
Breakfast is offered at this hostel for an additional cost, just inquire at the front desk. There is a restaurant and an Irish pub within the hostel walls.
The bathrooms, both the private and the shared facilities were very clean and well kept.
Upon arrival, you will be asked if you desire to clean your own room before departure; self-cleaning will save you approximately 148,50 SEK. If you do not have a IYHF card, you may purchase one there for 175 SEK, if not you will be charge an additional fee.
The staff is very professional and courteous. They may be able to direct you to current events or give traveling information.
