Cliff Walking Jun 22, 2009
There are a few ways to get good views of the white cliffs of Dover from the ocean and harbour but for a much closer view take the cliff walk and see for yourself.

The National Trust owns much of land along the waterfront where the white cliffs are and provide free access on foot and a small price for autos. There is an information center and cafe right where it starts to get some food and info your trek.

Once on the cliffs there are a serious of worn in paths that you can use, some walking around hills and valleys and others cutting right through them so you get to pick which suits you best. There is always an easy flattish route that is simple for walking of all ages. The first attraction is the lighthouse which is about 2 miles out and you have the option to carry on to St Margarets which I guess is about another 2 miles.

The views are great and there are plenty of soft grassy places to stop and take it all in or have a picnic. Due to the nature of the cliffs and the trail you can get right on the edge and have great views around bends in the cliffs that you'll see from my photos.
