Landzeit Autobahn-Restaurant Strengberg Reviews
A Pleasant Dining Experience on the Autobahn Oct 02, 2011
Landzeit is a chain of some 16 "Autobahn-Restauranten" in Austria. We stopped at this one for lunch en route from Melk to Salzburg. It looked very appealing and did not disappoint.
The restaurant is set up as a serve-yourself market hall. There are different stations with salads, sandwiches, soups, and main dishes. I selected a ham and cheese sandwich on a long baugette together with a bowl of Goulash Soup. (Like at Rosenberger, there were many toppings to put in the soup.) It was very good and fresh!
"Landzeit" translates as "Country Time" and, indeed, it reminded me much of the Cracker Barrel chain in the USA. As well as providing satisfying food for the highway traveler, it had a gift and sundries shop. Also like Cracker Barrel, Landzeit promotes seasonally-oriented menu items.
A terrace overlooks Strengberg village and the farmland surrounding it. The Strengberg travel plaza also has a gas/petrol station.
