Landmark Village Hotel Singapore Reviews
Landmark Village Hotel Singapore Oct 23, 2010
I was looking for a cheaper hotel to stay in town and was recommended by a friend in Singapore to check out the internet “Promotion rates for Singaporeans, PR Holders & Malaysians”. The rate is SGD 158 net per night inclusive of breakfast. This is a pretty decent price for a hotel in Singapore and good location nearby Bugis.
The hotel had probably seen better days. We arrived by cab and had to take the escalator up to the lobby for check in. We were in queue and when it was our turn, we walked to the counter and the duty manager at that time didn’t even say a word to us, take one look and walk over to his colleague to ask him to check us in. If we did not ask where will breakfast be serve, they would not have said anything.
The room is decent, a typical hotel room. We checked out the bathroom, it was miserably small. The shower curtain’s old and the tiles on the bathroom floor has cracks all over. Only good thing is the water pressure seems good.
We dropped off our bags and proceed back to the entrance of the hotel to wait for cab. Then we noticed the hotel shuttle bus and looked at the sign and it was stated Orchard Parade and some other locations and USS. We wanted to go to Orchard Parade, we went in. After 3 minutes, the driver came in and looked at us as we are seated at the front row. He asked where we are going and we told him we wanted to go to Orchard Parade. He said rudely to us, “You don’t know how to read? You don’t know how to read? (Repeated the question twice), this shuttle don’t go to Orchard Parade, this one goes to Universal Studio”. We were offended at his tone and replied, “It was stated on the shuttle Orchard Parade, if it doesn’t go there all you have to do is to politely tell us so and we will get off the bus, you don’t have to be rude to us” That’s when it all started, he shouted at us saying that he wasn’t rude and that we can’t read, also we are supposed to register at the concierge if we want to take the shuttle and the last bit he added, “You are all locals and not in house guests, you think I don’t know”. We were very insulted at his remark, we are Malaysians and just because we look local he does not have the right to be rude to us. There were several Caucasian guests in the shuttle; they were not treated the same way as us when they got into the shuttle. We felt discriminated and told him we will be complaining about his attitude to the hotel, he came down the bus and still wanted to argue with us. We asked to see the manager and the same Duty Manager that ignore us earlier during our check in came to see us. He could not do anything and just said sorry please let it go. Our temper were fused and we demand an apology but the driver shouted “Sorry” at us very reluctantly and we told him that’s it, we will write to the Singapore Tourism Board to complain about this and wrote down the license plate, he scream at us and refused to give us his name.
We skipped the breakfast the next day and just check out. The girl who check us out was the only staff that seem to be the most decent of all.
The manager was useless, service was bad and we will never ever go back to this hotel ever again.
