My family took me up to a favorite restaurant of theirs near Stuttgart. Something like the Burg Restaurant. It was up on a hill overlooking Stuttgart and the wine growing region. The restaurant didn't have a non-smoking section and my aunt and uncle complain about that all the time. Most Germans are used to it, but these two have a point. The restaurant has three rooms and only a few people were smoking in each room, so why not just have one non-smoking room?&nbs…

I couldn't stay at the Deutsches Museum as long as I'd like because I had to catch my train back home. My family was expecting me. I hopped the super fast ICE (intercity express) back to Stuttgart. The Stuttgart train station still had its nativity scene set up - that was kind of neat. I caught the bus and then walked back to my aunt and uncle's house. Once at home, my little cousins were in Alyssa-withdrawl so we spent the rest of the night playing. I woul…

We didn't get to stay for very long in Heidelberg, maybe an hour. Time to peek around a few corners, take a few pictures and eat a quick bite of food. Took a couple of pictures of the wonderful remains of the castle, high above the rest of the town. This is a very upper crust area. The homes show the beautiful detail that only the people with money can afford. Our tour director says that doctors, lawyers and travel guides are the only ones who can afford to live …

Home base for this Europian Excursion is Heidelberg, Germany. Not a bad home base if you ask me. Just look at the pics below. This will be followed by several reviews of the places I visit on this one month trip.

There is plenty to see in Heidelberg, but the main attraction is the castle located in the northern part of the Town. You can get excellent views from the center of the town. But you can get better views if you go up to the castle. I on the other hand never made it that far, since my travel partner didn't feel like taking the hike up there. Granted you can drive up there, but taking a hike to see a castle is so much better. In the center of the town there…

the approximate history of heidelberg, 600,000 years - that is the estimated age of the 'Heidelberg Man' whose jaw-bone was discovered in 1907 at nearby Mauer, the earliest evidence of human life in Europe. 5th cent. BC, Celts build a fortress of refuge and place of worship on the Heiligenberg. circa 80 AD, the Romans maintain a caster (permanent camp) and a signalling tower on the bank of the Neckar, and build a wooden bridge across the Neckar. The first civilian settlement develop under the…

From the ride where we were sitting in a round ride going down on the water was extreemly fun but even if Kristoffer is smiling and having fun here reality was different when he came off it. He was unlucky enough to get wet from the ride on his pants and starting to cry. I got the funnies looks from others probably thinking i had forced my child into something he didn't want to be a part of LOL...trust me i wouldn't do that oh wait i had to once hmmm ok am i bad? ;) The one thing he did love …

We were supposed to drive from Cesky Krumlov to the German Black Forest today but just couldn’t make ourselves leave Krumlov before 2 pm. We packed our clothes, had breakfast by eating half the stuff in the apartment refrigerator, went to the internet café, walked around town, had lunch at a vegetarian restaurant and finally went to get the car. (We were staying in the pedestrian only heart of town so parked elsewhere. We could only drive to the apartment to load …

Heidelberg is one of the nicest towns in Germany to visit for a day, to stay for a couple of days, to live or study in.

'll try to remember all the fun stuff I've done since we last spoke.
I'll start with the co-ed naked baths that I went to. You heard me
right! This won't be a shock or surprise to anyone who has lived in
Germany for a while, but for those that don't the public baths here are
"roman" style, aka everyone is in the buff. One thing that I really
miss about New York is that there are seemingly limitless options for
pampering yourself. I miss the massages, pedis, manis, scrubs, etc,
etc. Peo…

It's early in the morning and I'm coked out of my mind in Stuttgart. Passing through parks that appear out of nowhere, I begin to feel as if the schlosses (castles) are attacking me. Thinking back to last night, I remember getting into the city's main train station and being hit on by some thirty something MILF tourist at the hotel I was staying in; other than that, I think I watched Borat in french and some cops who kept on walking by garbage bins. I pass a red brick church that's fam…

SO...I had to travel to Germany to repair a tool for my company here in Canada. Said goodbye to everyone at the airport and it was nonstop awesome for the next week!!!!!!!!!!!
I had never been on a jet before and they booked me on KML, they were awesome and I thought takeoff was the best part ;-)
We landed at Shiphol in Amsterdam and I had to get a connecting flight into Germany. I wasn't overly thrilled about landing on a runway built on a canal. It isn't a reassuring feeling......
