Local organic sourced restaurant with an Italian twist Jan 31, 2016
N49°10'10.7" W122°34'42.3" looking at the menu, Canadian Paul and Milanese Nicoletta combine local organic sourced products with Italian cooking. We became very excited by this combination and ordered in September 2015 a dish that would express it the best: seared local halibut with baby shrimp and shrimp sauce on risotto for CAN$25 before taxes.
The sauce brought the halibut and the risotto together. Excellent taste of a well presented dish. The Lamplitter dessert sampler with bread pudding, chocolate mousse torte and passion fruit mousse finished this fine dinner. No local beers were on tap, just bottled beer from the Dead Frog microbrewery.
A minor note was the air quality inside the restaurant. When arriving we noticed all doors fully opened and fans blowing. No idea why, but soon we noticed fatty fried air from the kitchen inside the restaurant. Nicoletta soon opened the back door to let the kitchen air out and we concluded this is a reoccurring problem.
Lampliter Gallery Cafe, opposite Beatniks Bistro on Glover Road, offers good Italian cooking with local sourced products. The restaurant is modest decorated. Service is good. Very recommended.
