Lal Hotel Lalibela Reviews
Frienly staff in a noisy, unfished hotel Dec 29, 2011
As we arrived at Lal Hotel (where we would stay for two nights) we first had lunch at the terrace. Loved the soup. We had another ‘soup of the day’ the day after. Great again.
Lal Hotel contains several buildings. The largest one houses the bar and restaurant. Another one the reception, and then you have the cottages housing 4 rooms each. The hotel was (as a big bill board said) expanding, and we were lucky to stay in one of the newly built cottages….., room 86, first floor.
Well, although the cottage looked nice it was just not finished. Look at the photos and you’ll notice the power lines sticking out of the walls. The bathroom was the worst…. not finished (again see the photos, for example the missing toilet cover) and a dirty, sickly sewer air. Besides that the heck was broken, so it was not possible to shut the door of the bathroom properly. The boiler (placed on the roof) was for 4 rooms. The last guest taking a shower would find an empty boiler.
Another thing, I guess the walls, both the inside and outside walls, and the floor, seemed to be made of paper. We could hear every single word from our neighbors (next door and downstairs). And all running engines from cars at the facing parking. And traffic on the street……. I’m wondering about the elderly cottages……
The first night we were cold, the next day we asked for an extra blanket. As we came back that day the beds were made with an extra blanket.
Breakfast in buffet style. Bread, eggs, pancakes, coffee and tea. Just okay.
The staff at the reception and in the restaurant was very friendly.
When you leave the parking and turn to the left there’s a small store where you can buy water, soft drinks, beer and some snacks.
