Lakefront Apartments Queenstown Reviews
Handy to Queenstown city centre Dec 31, 2009
These appartments are within easy walking distance to the city centre. We could see it from our balcony. Close enough to be handy but far enough away for the peace and quiet.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom appartment and had our own garage/parking space.
Our appartment was set up a bit strangely but it was because it is set on the side of a hill. There were also other appartments above us.
We were told to drive around the back and park in our space and then we could enter the back of the appartment. Although the front appartments like ours had a garage, above the garage was an open carpark for the people staying in the motel type rooms behind that.
We had a few steps to go up to get to the back door but had to go into a small porch area first which had a storage box and small clothes line. We then went into a small area that had a washing machine and dryer, as well as a clothes rack. Then into the living area.
The kitchen (lots of cupboard space if you are wanting to stay a week)/dining/lounge area was comfortable enough and then there was the balcony. We could sit inside or out on the balcony and look at the lake and the mountains. We regularly watched the jet boats and the "Earnslaw" on the lake.
Also, by the door that we had entered the living area there was a stairway leading down to the 2 bedrooms and bathroom.
At the back of the downstairs area was a bedroom with 2 single beds, a bathroom with the toilet off the bathroom. To the front of the downstairs area was another bedroom with a double bed and built in robe.
The front bedroom had a door leading out to a small courtyard, which also had a gate leading out to the road.
The appartment was in need of some basic maintenance but comfortable enough for us.
It is close enough to the city centre but far enough if you want to get away from the night life.
There were four appartments at the front with courtyards like ours but there were also other types of accommodation available.
We actually had to check into the reception next door, which is Lakeside Motel but there is also a backpackers there too. All check into the same reception I believe.
It was New Years Eve when we checked in and there was no room service for the 1st or 2nd January, which was a bit dissappointing. They did however open reception for a few hours on the 2nd Jan, so that we could get fresh towels or toilet paper etc. We couldn't be bothered, we just washed the towels we had.
It was basic clean and comfortable and I would consider staying there again if ever we went back to stay in Queenstown.
