Lake View Guesthouse Udaipur Reviews

Tatty. Rundown. These are just two of the words you might choose when you walk through the door of Lake View. Its not great on the eyes and after a hellish first night here, the manager (who wasn't around when I checked in) quickly sorted me out a better room for INR 300, with hot shower, a working toilet (which was absent the first night!!) and TV. all the rooms suffer from dodgy plumbing and tatty workmanship. Water is filled into a tank on the roof and hence you can run out of water at any inconvenient moment, as happened to me. The restaurant upstairs is ok, but isn't open air like so many of the others in town, so just walk round and you'll find somewhere much better for breakfast (like Cafe Namaste, which was excellent). Its location is good on Lal Ghat, central to the whole of the old town. No wi-fi (as usual). I had a look round Lal Ghat Guesthouse one day and I think that would be an equally good if not better option - plenty of happy travellers milling around.
