This snowboarding day started at 3:30am when I woke to start getting ready. I slept at about 12:30am, yup just 3 hours of sleep, but that's okay I wasn't the designated driver for this day, so good thing it allowed me to take naps along the way up there and down back home. My friend arr…

On Liz's US adventures, she made a 5 day detour to spend time with me in Northern California. I had to try and pack as much of my beautiful part of California as I could in 5 days! Quite a feat but we started off with an afternoon in Lake Tahoe. The weather wasn't appearing to cooperate…

We spent 5 days in Lake Tahoe taking in as much adventure as we could. We did well too! The first night we were in a forest during a controlled burn AT NIGHT, later we hiked and discovered a crystal clear frozen lake in the mountains that made you feel like you were walking on water, we also attended the Tahoe Adventure Film Festival and of course we snowboarded the mountains of Heavenly above our resort.

On a remote, jagged set of cliffs not far from Lake Tahoe, some rather peculiar caves are hidden beneath the landscape. Mountain bikers pass near them in the summer, and skiers enjoy the surrounding slopes in winter, both oblivious to their existence. They are known in local lore …

Michelle, Puppy and I went up to Reno for a weekend. When we all realized we didn't like to gamble, we hightailed it to Lake Tahoe. The resulting day was a drifty, snowy blur of blues and whites, of snow angels and stunning views.
We built a snowman, admired a snowy beach, threw ourselves into a …

I have been to Lake Tahoe 3 times now, but this trip was the first time
I had gone in the summer. I went with my whole family and we rented two
condos right on the lake. It was amazing! We had two boats and were
constantly going to the beach, laying out, water-skiing, etc. We had a
shuttle that…

A beautiful secluded waterfall up a mile and a half forest hike, with amazing granite flats and boulders. The weather was perfect for hiking - sunny, a little breeze, with temperatues in the 70's. The falls are mostly snow melt water - positively glacial! But it made for a very refreshing foot spa …

Growing up in Michigan, I never understood why people liked skiing. We got plenty of snow, and there were some decent ski slopes way up north. But all I wanted to do in winter was go somewhere warm. It never made sense to me to drive somewhere even colder only to throw myself down a mountain in …

Looking back, I can't believe we didn't initally plan to go to Lake Tahoe...it was an afterthought that ended up being one of my favorite parts of the trip. Getting there was beautiful. The mountains were amazing and then the lake...so breathtaking. Happily there are many places t…

Last summer I spent my family vacation in Tahoe, we hung at the beach, made it up Squaw Valley Resorts mountain face, and enjoyed some delicious 'Sneaky Bandito' margaritas during our stay. Tahoe is a low key spot-with a lot of outdoor activities and gorgeous terrain for play. Its relaxing and the lake is absoloutely beautiful.
Updated April 09: Quick weekend trip with the girls, 80 degrees on the beach with snow capped mountains! Lay out or snowboard?

Our drive thru the Sierra Nevadas to Lake Tahoe went so well. No snow and the road was dry. We saw a little snow along the side of the road, but to be this late in the year, it was very little. But of course, in the distance we could see the snowcapped mountain tops.
We drove to the south side of…

So I decided to do some skiing last week and had a major fall, injuring my Tailbone!!! It is very painful to sit and I'm wondering how I'm gonna make it through the 22 hours flying. Guess I'll have to stock up on pain killers!
