Lake Singkarak Vacation Guide

Lake Singkarak is one of the famous lakes in West Sumatra, Indonesia. It is located right beside the main highway of trans Sumatra between the city of Padang Panjang and Solok. It is the biggest lake in West Sumatera with approximately 21 km long and 7 km wide. Before we reach the lake, we are served with the beauty of the rice field view. All we can see is a green view.

The temperature at the area of the Lake is hot. The view is not as green as other places in West Sumatra. There is a species of fish that is endemic to the lake. It is called ikan bilih (mystacoleucus padangensis). The fish is small and the length is less than 10 cm. It is usually deep fried. It is crispy and the taste is savory. It is best when it is eaten with warm rice and sambal (traditional chili sauce).

At the lake, we can enjoy the view by sailing with a boat. We also can bring food and dine on the boat in the middle of the lake.
