Lake Maninjau Vacation Guide

Lake Maninjau is one of the famous lakes in West Sumatra. Located 140 km in the northen of Padang, it is the second biggest lake West Sumatera has after Lake Singkarak. Maninjau is local language for overlook or observation. The view of the lake from Embun Pagi (the closest area to the lake) is like a painting. We can see the lake with rice field as the foreground.

If we drive from Embun Pagi to Lake Maninjau, we have to pass "Kelok 44" (read Kelok Ampek Puluh Ampek). It is local language for 44 turns. We have to drive down to the lake carefully because we have to do U-turn 44 times.

People come to Lake Maninjau for the beauty of the scenery and the cool temperature. It is a perfect place to rest from hustle bustle of the cities.
