Although there are many beautiful lakes in the area, Lake Louise - the greenish blue lake against the stark backdrop of Victoria Glacier and Moraine Lake - the turquoise lake set in front of the ten mountain peaks are two most beautiful lakes.
Most people prefer to drive up to Lake Louise but we preferred to hike from our campsite. The beautiful and peaceful trail took us next to the creek, passed the rushing rivers and through the forest to Lake Louise. Lake Louise was ...

It was good waking up in a normal friendly hostel. Our room mate was a French Canadian girl from Quebec. Had gruel again for breakfast (Emma has bought a box of oatbran) although today we had syrup to go with it - so not so bland - will look forward to this breakfast for the next 200 mornings!
We headed out to Peyto Lake which was just a short walk along snowy footpaths to the view of a brilliant turquoise lake - it was definitely spectacular. We stood with the other o...

When I graduated I wanted to see more of Canada so I went Outwest Twice actually. Once right after I graduated in Spring and another time in the fall to go visit my sister and stayed at the Chateau Lake Louise where she was working. I did a lot of day trips hiking. Shared some memories with my family which is important to me and had a wonderful experience. I would definately go back.

I won a contest through my work to do some training in Calgary Alberta. Everything was included and we were treated liike rockstars! We took a trip up to Lake Louise and to Banff as well. 4 days as not enough!
The weather was absolutely crazy. Those Chinooks would drive me crazy if I lived there. In one afternoon we went from snow to swimming! Pack layers when you leave people!!!

Welcome to our blog. The plan is to travel round the world in eight months.
We'll be starting from New York and seeing some more of North America before continuing to Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Hawaii, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand before finishing in Cambodia and coming home for Christmas.
We'll do our best to keep it as up-to-date as possible as we go.
Bye for now!

In 1996, after years of searching, my dad finally discovered who his real father was. It turned out that he was from the other side of the world in Illinois, USA. A few years later, I spent my life savings to go and meet as many of the hundred or so new relatives I had. In between this, I learned to snowboard at every opportunity. It was an epic journey of adventure and discovery.

Got up and left the hotel about 11, we had to wait for Nick
who had driven back from seeing his family in Calgary. Drove up to Lake
Louise and went for a lovely lunch at the Chateau Lake Louise
(possible honeymoon recommendation – Jacq actually went and pretended she was
getting married to check out the honeymoon suite of the hotel!)
Everybody had lasagne for their lunch except me, Art and Ji
(who had Salmon bagel) whereas Art and I had the Shrimp Penne which was
gorgeous.

Today we drove the Bow Valley Parkway, the 1A, wich is a parallel road of the Trans-Canada Highway, the 1, to Lake Louise.
Halfway we stopped at Johnston Canyon and walked to the lower and upper falls. To the upper falls it's about 2.7 km, or approximately one hour. The trail was partly clinched at the canyon walls. After taking some pictures, I'm glad I have a digital camera, we walked back to our car.
Next we drove to Lake Louise to take a walk around the lake, at least, along one side o...

Lake Louise was the end of our adventure in Banff National Park, but what an end! We turned off of Highway 1 late in the afternoon, drove past the tiny town of Lake Louise, and up to the Lake itself. Right at the edge is the massive Fairmont Hotel. I was struck by the sight of this immense building in such a remote location. I have never found the words to describe the sensation - a complex composite of the knowledge that men undertook the construction this grand structure in such a grand nat...

Finally made it to pristine Lake Louise. I had seen a lot of photos of this place, but it's not until you see it in the flesh, so to speak, that it makes you truly admire its beauty. It's a huge lake surrounded by mountains with tourists canoeing on her, hiking around her and spending lots of money at the Lake Louise Hotel. I forget how much it was to stay there, but a Platinum Amex Card would be advisable.
We hiked for an hour or more up to the 1st Tea House before going up ...
