Lake Las Vegas
Lake Las Vegas Henderson Reviews
Lake Las Vegas Jan 07, 2014
Las Vegas Lakes is located about 20 minutes from the Strip and makes a very nice half day excursion. Montelago Village with it's hotels, golf courses, casino, little shops and about 20 restaurants is built by the artificial lake, Lake Las Vegas. It's architecture was inspired by Tuscany and you feel like walking in a children's story book.
Depending on the time of the year/time of the day you'll find different things to do. If you come breakfast time, you could start your visit eating your breakfast at Harry's Casino MonteLago and then decide what to do.
Not a golfer myself (I agree A.A. Milne, he said golf ruins a nice walk), but the golf courses at the Golf Club at the South Shore sure look pretty, it's always interesting seeing this kind of an oasis in the desert and this one is an award winning, too. At the Marina you can rent boats, kayaks, canoes and pedal boats for a reasonable price, it's nice the Marina rental is open daily from 8 a.m. to sundown.
If you didn't experience the Italian Gondola ride at the Venetian, you can have the experience here. The lake itself is 320 acres in total, scenery is beautiful. Lake Las Vegas living seems to be the latest in luxury living only a short drive from LV and from the lake you can see houses of the rich and the famous, even Celine Dion and Andre Agassi have their homes here.
If it's Holiday Season you may not feel renting a canoe, but you can test your skating skills, the artificial ice rink by the lake rents skates (I've visited twice in winter time).
After some hours of lakeside activities, visit the Irish pub Auld Dubliner and have a pint. If you don't feel hungry yet, it's shopping time. Little boutiques and galleries are worth a visit, you could bring home some famous art pieces, but also nice little mementos can be found here. My favorite above all is Tesoro with it's Mexican furnishings and accessories, a real gem in the middle of the desert.
Hungry now? Choose from a nice selection of restaurants. You're in Tuscany-themed village and Italian can be found, of course. But you can also choose to eat Mexican, American or Asian. Or head back to the Auld Dubliner and order pub food.
Before heading back to Las Vegas you could try your luck at the casino, you never know how much richer you leave. Or stay longer and enjoy the evening here. The residents and the hotel guests at Montelago Village gather to have a dinner and some drinks at the lakeside bars and restaurants.
