Lake Jackson Mounds Archaeological State Park is a historical state park located in the Florida's capital city, Tallahassee. It is only few miles from the downtown area and it also very close to Lake Jackson.
This state park is believed to be were native Americans once lived and did trading to the nearby places centuries ago. Though it may not be the same way as it existed several hundreds years ago, the park has preserved the most important mounds and the surroundings. There are some exhibits and history information in the picnic area which is interesting to see and read.
There are few natural trails in this park which are absolutely nice and seems to be dense and very green. The inclined wooden path with steps leads to the top of the mounds where we can get a 360 degree view of the wilderness.
This park is good for hiking, bird watching or picnicking. There is a $3.00 parking fee which needs to be deposited on a box by the parking lot, so have some change. There are toilets by the entrance and do not forget to carry water/snacks/food if you decided to stay longer.
