Lake Hood Ashburton Reviews
Lake Hood May 03, 2008
About 15 years ago Mr Doug Hood, a man with vision had the bright idea to turn a vast swampy area of land close to the coast, into a beautiful man-made recreational Lake to benefit the entire community of Ashburton. With his Earth moving company he dug out large tracts of the swamp and channeled it into a large attractive lake, with many twists and turns and sheltered corners and launching ramps for small boats and yachts.
Huntingdon Park was established as a prime housing area with sections sell for $300,000+ overlooking the lovely lake.
You can sit and watch the water skiers, or Jet skiers and boats roaring by, or watch the children operating a ferry across the narrorest part of the lake.
All together Doug Hoods foresight has produced an asset to the district. There is a great Cafe restaurant on one pretty corner of the lake, where the wild ducks congragate.
