Beautiful Turtle Lake Jun 13, 2011
When on your trip to Fraser Island, never forget to visit Lake Allom. This quiet lake is not easy to reach, but more then worth the trip.

There are two roads leading to Lake Allom, both on the 'Northern Forest Scenic Drive.' Take out 1.5 hours to get there in a 4 wheel drive from Happy Vally or 30 minutes from The Pinnacles.

When getting to Lake Allom the first thing you'll notice is the amazing serenity around. A short walk from the 'parking space' to the lake will lead you to a small ramp.

TIP: When on the ramp, clap your hands a couple of times, give it a couple of minutes, and dozens of turtles will come up to the ramp.

There is a small 40 minute circuit walk around the lake, which is also more then worth it. It is surrounded completely by Mellaluca trees which give Lake Allom it’s unusual appearance.
