Great location in the Gamla Stan Jan 13, 2017
The Hotel Lady Hamilton is located very central, in the midst of the Gamla Stan (Old Town). A perfect location for doing sight-seeing, as it is almost next to the Royal Palace and just around the corner from the Storkyrkan (Cathedral). You are amidst of the colorful old-town with its cobble-stoned streets and historical houses. And the hotel is located in one of these characteristic historic houses. The building dates back the 1470s, at the time of Sten Sture the Elder. Since 1975 the property was turned into a hotel. The old feel of the house has however been preserved as it has been filled with a collection of antiques in the Swedish peasant style, both in the room and general areas of the hotel. The result is a hotel which oozes charm.

As with all hotels located in the Old Town the rooms are small, quite small indeed. So be prepared for that! We stayed on the third floor of the hotel, having a view far down on one of the charming cobble-stoned street and overlooking the red and yellowish painted historical houses across the road.

The beds were very comfortable, and although the room is small, they managed to squeeze a desk and a chair in a corner. WiFi, although a bit slow, worked perfectly. The bathroom was clean and had everything needed, but I have to admit that it was a little bit too cramped for my liking. The walls in the rooms are most likely very thick as not once I heard the noise of other guest. The only sound I heard was the bell-tower from a nearby church. A charming sound in my ears, with a delicate toll of the bells at regular intervals throughout the night.

Breakfast was so,so. I guess my disappointment had to be honest more to do with the presentation than the actual content of the breakfast. Because thinking logical, all was there you could expect, it only didn't feel like a full breakfast to me at the time.

The price for staying at this hotel is not cheap. But everything is relative, as all hotels in this part of Stockholm are very expensive. To be honest, the Lady Hamilton is in fact one of the cheaper ones in this part of town. So can I recommend the place? Absolutely! I enjoyed my stay very much! But when staying in this part of town I might prefer the Rica Hotel Gamla Stan. This hotel has the same atmosphere and also located in the Old Town. The differences are tiny, but somehow I did feel the Rica being the better one of the two. In favor for the Lady Hamilton is without a doubt its better location.

Affordable hotel in Stockholm Jul 09, 2011
This hotel is located next to the king palace, in one of the busiest streets in stockholm. The food is okay , you can eat ouside the hotel where you will find many good restaurants.

The service was good and sufficient. They do not have many options, it is more like a bed and thats it.

The location is amazing. and it is a non smoking hotel

Nice hotel in a fabulous neighborhood Dec 16, 2009
Lady Hamilton Hotel is one of three hotels in Gamla Stan in The Collector’s Hotels chain, which is owned by the Bengtsson family. I have stayed in all of them more than once and I really like the fact that they are plastered with real antiques and especially with focal art. They all have and old fashion feel to them and Lady Hamilton is the middle one in size of the rooms and quility. The hotel is quite amazing not just because of the interior but also the history and age of the building, that actually also is listed for its cultural significance.

The building, that houses the Lady Hamilton Hotel dates back to the 1470s, and the time of Sten Sture the Elder (Sten Sture the Elder lived from 1440 to 14 December 1503 and he was a Swedish statesman and regent of Sweden from 1470–1497 and 1501–1503). The hotel building was originally three separate properties, but a merchant named Lorens Erdtman eventually bought them and converted them into one single building.

Majlis and Gunnar Bengtsson purchased the property back in 1975 and turned it into a hotel. Lady Hamilton’s cellar even contains a 15th century well and the well actually entitled the owner to a lower fire insurance premium in the 18th century. You can today visit and even use the well, when you are staying there. It is now used as a plunge pool in which you can cool off after taking a sauna.

The staff is really nice and friendly and I like the rooms for their feel of history and their antiques but beware the bells from the nearby church. I didn’t like those bells at all the first time I stayed there, because some bells strike every hour during all night.

The hotel is really cozy and it is a treat to find a place like this as it fits really well with the cozy but touristic area of Gamla Stan. The hotel is located almost next to the Royal Castle and it is located in the outer perimeter of Gamla Stan, which makes it easy to access if you arrive by taxi, especially if you arrive from the central station.

Just for the fun of it check out their homepage it is quite amazing the way that they have built it up and I really like the way that the owner steps in the site and tells a story about some of the antiques that you are able to experience when you are visiting their hotels. Yes I also found this quite entertaining - now I just have to find my own pictures from the stay. I wish I was better organised and used fewer cameras when I travel.
