Ladies' Market Sofia Reviews
A nice place to check out... Oct 14, 2010
This is my first time doing a review of a place to check out.
Usually I'm more into reviewing on food/restaurants and hotels. Well, this time I felt that there is a need to do a review of this place.
It is the Ladies' Market in Sofia. In fact, it was my boyfriend who had gone online to find out the places of interest in Sofia. He came across it in someone's online travel blog. Thus, we decided to check it out. The funny thing is, this place didn't seem to bore me but somehow I felt happy walking along in the market looking at the items that they were selling. One section dedicated to all vegetables and fruits grocers. Another section to all nuts/pulses and of course shops along the roads selling spices, housing stuff and plants (somehow it seems to me that the Bulgarians love flowers a lot!). A section selling clothes. Oh hehehe and another interesting section where they sold women's lingerie! Many many things being sold and my favourite would be the local potteries. HANDPAINTED clay potteries like plates, bowls and jugs.
My boyfriend needed a short-sleeve t-shirt badly because it wasn't cold in Sofia (yup, we thought it was going to be cold). We found a shop selling some nice t-shirts. Managed to find an imitation Tom Tailor green t-shirt. Guess how much does it cost. 8BGN = 4 Euro! Yup, he left that stand happily wearing that t-shirt.
Next stop, I wanted to get a bra and I was able to try on the bra. She let me try it in the old shed where they kept car tyres! No place to put my clothes, I had to get my dear boyfriend to be my living-hanger. Perfect...it fits and I got it for 5BGN = 2,50 Euro!
Well, after that we came across two shops selling those handcrafted and painted clay potteries. We got a handpainted clay bowl and a small tealight candle dish :) They're nice and I would say unique. Something which I know I'll not be able to get once back home.
Shopping (things are just cheap there) and snapping photos there were fun and a joy for the both of us. We really like the Ladies' Market and we would like to recommend this place to anyone who's popping by in Sofia.
