Labyrinth Hostels Vienna Reviews
Cheap place to stay in Vienna Oct 12, 2010
Very close to a U-Bahn station, and a couple stops away from the train station, the Labyrinth Hostel offers beds at the cheapest prices in Vienna.
The directions are easy to follow, and the place is not hard to find. The reception office is in a separate building from where the dorm rooms are. And there are 2 types of dorm beds, which I spent a night each one, due to some booking issue.
The 16-bed dorm room is on the other side of the block from the reception office. You have to look for what appears to be a black wall, next to a blue door. There is a hole, and you have to put your finger there, to slide it open. Then another door, which you open with a key. The arrangement of this dorm is a bit unusual, from what I’m used to. There are 12 beds on one side, and 4 on the other side. In between is the lounge and kitchen into one, with separate rooms for the bathroom and shower.
There is a building with a bunch of 4-bed dorm room, which is down the street from the reception office. The big issue here, is having to up a bunch of stairs, to the third floor, and opening a few doors with a different key for each. Also, the lights may not come on by themselves, so make sure you know where a switch is. Otherwise, an attempt to find your way through the darkness, can result in injury, as there are steps that are hard to remember that they are there.
Basically, this one is like separate hostel itself, with each room having 4 beds each, and bathrooms and showers down the hall. This one does not have much of a lounge, with no table to sit at. A kitchen, with a computer nearby.
Internet access is free, but in one of the dorms, it may be out of order. Breakfast is included, but mainly only toast. The staff are pretty much business-like, with one of them a bit difficult to deal with, should a problem come up. Also, a 50 euro deposit will be required, should you come in without a reservation.
Overall, not a bad place to stay, and not as difficult to deal with, as it sounds. Being the cheapest and its location are probably enough reasons to stay at this place.
