We woke up to a cold, rainy/snowy day.  Michele and I wanted to go shopping, so after another wonderful breakfast we all drove to Kiel to the mall.  We walked around a little and marvelled at the differences between German and American malls.  Mostly in the stores - this mall had kiosks for meats, cheeses, fish, bakery, fruit, etc - all the specialty shops, even an herbal tea shop.  Since it was the day before Easter, a lot of grown up Easter bunnies were buying candies an...

Laboe Naval Memorial and U 995

Today we've visited the Laboe Naval Memorial and the 2nd world war submarine U995.The Laboe Naval Memorial is a 72 meters high tower which honors the fallen navy soldiers of both world wars.As you can see in the photos the tower is quite an impressive building and close to it is a museum which shows modells and several exhibits!Next to the memorial is the submarine U995 which is the only one of this type that still exists.It's infact impressive how small it is inside the submarine and how bad...
