La mama Bucharest Reviews
Affordable Romanian Fare Jul 02, 2009
Upon the recommendation from Lonely Planet, my buddy and I searched for this restaurant in Bucharest. Bucharest is a very chaotic city, but the restaurant was in a leafy, relatively quiet section of the city near Revolution Square. Although we somehow missed the restaurant initially, one shouldn't because there is a big sign outside and the place is large. It was crowded which was a good sign. We chose to sit outside. We asked for an english menu, but they just had their menus reprinted and the english ones hadn't arrived yet. However, our waiter was more than willing to help us out and he made some suggestions that sounded good, so we told him to get us what he likes. I had grilled meat and my friend the tochitara. The food was excellent local fare. The wine was cheap (as it was everywhere in Romania) but good. It was a nice introduction to Romanian cuisine, and helped us settle into Bucharest. Although we would come across some places that served better food, this was a nice friendly place to eat and get a sampling of local culture.

If u come in Romania and u want to taste traditional
food, then "La mama" restaurant is the place where u should
go. Like tourist in Romania u will love this restaurant,
it has big plates with food and a good limonade, also selection
of wines is very good and so cheap prices.
Its good also for romanian families , they have
very good food, very good prepared..veggies are freh
same the meat, so u can trust this food will be very
apreciated by ur kid.
They have even a special menu for kids, we all
know that kids are a little difficult with food,
so the plate is very nice coloured and the food
is arranged in some funny way: clown faces, sun, moon
etc. So ur child will eat clown nose and this will be
a tomato so his ears that are smashed potatoes.
Is a very cool way to make kids eat.
Sweets are great, i dont belive sweets need special
way to look for kids to eat it...however its very nice
from the cookies and sponge cake...till ice cream.
However if u are a permanent visitator in Romania
u know the only thing that is not so good , is the fact
restaurant didnt changed the menu since 2 years.
So this is a family restaurant, good choice for takeing
kids..better then McDonald's i can say that for sure with great
traditional food, good prices but with nothing new in the menu
from some time.
