La Vecchia Cartiera Hotel Colle di Val d'Elsa - Reviews - Colle di Val d'Elsa

The hotel La Vecchia Cartiera is as its name means in Italian – The Old Paper Mill. The building is centuries old and really did house the town’s paper mill beginning around the 12th century. It has now been converted into a hotel that is located just off the main town square.
While the outside looks much as it did hundreds of years ago the interior has been renovated to include modern amenities blending well with the original architecture.

The room we stayed in was comfortable for three adults traveling together with one double bed and one twin that would also serve well for those traveling with children. There is a restaurant and bar on-site though we only ate breakfast there (breakfast was included in the price of our room). Breakfast was a European continental style buffet. There is also off street parking available. We found the staff to be very friendly especially the manager who always greeted us at breakfast.

The hotel is located in the small town of Colle di Val d'Elsa in the heart of Tuscany. This makes it a good spot to be based and travel all over Tuscany. Siena is 30 minutes south, Florence is one hour north and Pisa is 2 hours west. And Rome is 3 hours south.
