Lima Seafood Jun 19, 2009
My travel companions and I decided to eat here against the advise of our hotel bartender. We though, how could this place go wrong? It is perched on a pier over the Pacific Ocean with waves crashing underneath. When we arrived this opinion was confirmed. The restaurant was absolutely beautiful. It reminded me of the Victorian age of architecture in my hometown of Newport, RI. Nice wide-open, whitewashed rooms with trellis galore and floral decorations (and did I mention the incredible bar?). With the open windows, you could feel the cool evening air, smell the sea and hear the constant crashing water below. When we opened the menus, we began to think about what the bartender had told us. This menu was HUGE. Variety? Yes. But no chef anywhere can possibly cook ALL of these things well. Right? Right. Overall, the service here was very slow, the food arrived lukewarm at best and the veggies did not appear to be fresh. On my return trip, I will surely NOT eat here, but I will be dropping by for drinks at the bar. The vista is worth that much.

The best food of ever Aug 02, 2009
First visit from 2009 : January

If you go to Peru you must visit this place.

The food is great and the place where is located makes it very special.

Second visit from 2009: August

Well until my last experience... I would say do not go during a weekend. I have been there at least twice at year, but today.... OMG it was the WORSE service I could get.

First, I knew that if you dont do a reserve, then go late, they told me to wait for 30 min.... I had to wait almost an hour... then they pretended to give me a table outside the main rooms, I said,,, what the hell are you doing????? then was told to wait a little more....

Second mistake, since they told me I had to wait 30 min,,, at the min 45 I ordered what i wanted to eat, since I was close to get a table, I said what to wait until being on the table, I could order and then get the food. well they wanted to make me eat at the bar??? yeah it was toooo grossy !!!!! For a 5 forks restaurant.

I said no fucking way. I was really pissed off.

FINALLY I got the table... and got the food and it was not the food I ordered !!!!!! I went over there with someone speciall, he got what he didnt order, but since he was starbing, he said no problem, I will eat it... but I waited until I got what I ordered...

One of my friend of the university was working over there, and for respect I didnt scream, but was really really pissed off. I got the appologies, but the worse of them were the receptionist... they were the most incompetent people I ever saw.

If you go to a 4th or 5th fork restaurant, they might be sooo crazy pretending you will seat and eat where they want. Well that wont happen with me. Hey I am the client, and am the one who will purchase the bill, so GIVE ME A BREAK !!!!

I wont go over there without a reservation again!!!. Well I use to not do a reservation, and never got this kind of service.

The food is really good, but the service....uhmmmmmm
I told ya

well it is!!!! there are so many rooms inside, You can take a table outside in the terrace, or inside. It is very relaxing, being there, with a great low music and hearing the waves hitting the rocks.....

La Rosa Nautica is one of Lima's most famous restuarants. It's absolutely gorgeous location at the end of a pier under the Lima cliffs is its best quality. Supposedly, it's a good deal because Peruvian fine dining prices are so much cheaper than America ones. While this is true in theory, the quality of food wasn't anything spectacular. To me it was a moderate price (expensive for Peru) for a moderate meal.

The food was good, but rather forgettable -- I can't really remember what I ate. We all ordered some kind of fish and a chocolate souffle. I think I had the swordfish and we shared a cebiche appetizer. Apparently it's kind of a production when they serve the souffles, but I wouldn't know because the waiter decided to serve it when I was taking a bathroom break. Watch out for all the taxes and tip they add to the bill.

Pros: The food isn't bad. It's tasty, it's just nothing to write home about. The absolutely beautiful location on a pier would make this a really romantic spot.

Cons: Not spectacular food and not that great service. Also, you can catch a cheap cab there from town, but all the cabs going back to town will charge you way to much.

Favorite Dish: the ceviche appetizer was really yummy, by far the best part of the meal. Even so, it wasn't even the best ceviche I had on this trip. The best ceviche I had in Lima was at a tiny restaurant next to where we did the laundry, and that was much cheaper.
