La Quinta Inn and Suites Ft. Myers Fort Myers Reviews
Quinta-essentials Feb 27, 2015
As of February, 2015, when I stayed here, this La Quinta was refreshingly new. The facility had clearly been recently constructed, quite atypical of previous experience with this chain (predecessors always seem to be old and run down). The facility was also unusual by possessing a strategic location, poised at the causeway over to Sanibel and Captiva. Of course this all translated into an exorbitant price point, especially when booking during high season. It was probably fairly priced, but I just couldn’t wrap my head around the rate for a place I associate with “inexpensive”.
Really was not much room to complain, however. My room was spacious and complemented with standard amenities. The bathroom was particularly expansive and well appointed. What I really grooved on was how it was simply stocked with a non-descript bar of soap and bottle of shampoo. Yeah, I’m a guy, and my mind always wanders to how much it is costing me for the expansive collection of brand name crap, artfully arranged in a basket. I was gratified by by this La Quinta simply serving the basics.
The service was fine, although I wasn’t around much. The front desk attendant was particularly helpful in devoting time to help me pin down the location of Randy and Kay’s place, which I appreciated.
This is a huge facility and the pool commanding the central courtyard was quite impressive. Though I did not use it, glimpses during several passes revealed it to be constantly in heavy, happy use (many families with children here).
Missed the free buffet breakfast Saturday since I was out early on adventures, but did visit before checking out Sunday. A lovely and large indoor-outdoor dining area, but the food selection was limited (well, at least for myself, being diabetic) and poorly laid out. Despite abundant space for seating, the food aisle was quite narrow and high guest volume made it bothersome securing eats.
