La Quinta Inn Milwaukee/Delafield Reviews
close to Milwaukee, and therefore more expensive than it should be Jul 05, 2010
La Quinta is located just off I-94, about 30 minutes west of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in Delafield. Because it was the weekend of July 4th (our national holiday), and because we were so close to Milwaukee, this hotel was more expensive than it should have been. Although it was $5 cheaper than the Holiday Inn a few blocks away.
The La Quinta is located south of the interstate, up on a hill near a cinema, Walmart, and restaurants. There is plenty of parking, and three floors of rooms. I was impressed by the balconies outside some of the rooms - until our room had one of those "balconies". They were fake balconies, just railings to look like balconies from the parking lot.
Our room was a double, with two full sized beds. We thought we were getting queen, so were a little disappointed. But the beds were quite comfortable, with pillowtop mattresses. The room was clean and had a mini fridge, desk, tv (of course), and free wi-fi (always good). The bathroom was tight, with just toilet and shower, and the shower whined when the water was running. The sink was by the door and had a large counter for everyone to share while getting ready at the same time. The room temperature was controlled by a programmable thermostat on the wall. Very nice. Our view from the window was parking lot, Cinema parking lot and lots of trees.
The pool was very small, and a little chilly. The hot tub was a little cool and the bubbly jets didn't work, but it still felt nice to relax in there. Then the cool pool felt nice for cooling off. There is also a small exercise room with an elliptical, treadmill, and bike.
Breakfast was a nice continental with waffle maker (becoming standard at hotels). Also the usual toast, cereal, pastries, oatmeal, fruit, juice and coffee. The hotel staff was very friendly, as well.
Overall, this was a pretty nice place to stay, even though it was over $100 US for one night (for 3 people). There are lots of restaurants and shopping nearby and easy to get to, yet you are not quite in the middle of Milwaukee. We were on our way to a Brewer's baseball game and found it convenient to stay 30 minutes away rather than in the city where it is busier and more expensive. By the way, there are 2 microbreweries/restaurants within 2 miles of the hotel ;)
