My husband and I decided to try Le P.G. for lunch one afternoon. A very bright and cheery atmosphere, the restaurant is clean, airy and open. We were seated promptly. It wasn't very busy and the waitstaff were efficient and friendly. Communication/conversation/hearing the person you're dining with wasn't a problem. Deciding on what to order was. The menu, while not extensive, was sufficient and had a dish for all tastes/preferences - vegetarian, pork, fish, red meat, etc. The lunch offerings all looked appetizing. We started off with a great soup for summer - a chilled canteloupe soup with balsamic vinager and mint. We ordered the open pork cheek sandwich and the fried green tomato BLT. The pork sandwich was excellent. I was expecting a bit more flavour from the BLT, but it was not bad. The portions were right on - not too much, not too little. The wine list is extensive. Desert was a lemon tart. Again, a good portion size, very tasty. Overall a very satisfactory experience. Definitely worth a return visit. I recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants a pleasant dining experience and wants to be able to enjoy the company of the person they're dining with.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Delicious New Orleans French Food May 17, 2008
R. and I had dinner at La Petite Grocery last week during a tornado watch. Fortunately, the storm passed New Orleans without much incident and we really enjoyed our meal.
We started with the Butternut Squash soup, which was served souper hot, just the way R. likes. The soup has candied walnuts sunk in the bottom of the bowl. I enjoyed it, but because she likes hot soup, I turned it over to her to finish up. For my entree, I had the Crispy Skin Duck Breast. While ordering, I couldn't decide between this and the chicken breast. My server informed me that the duck plate came with a little more on the plate. Because i'm not the biggest wild mushroom fan, and not because of the promise of more food, I chose the duck. No really! I ordered it well done, which was a good thing according to our server because because it come with a crispy skin, the chef has to cook it pretty thoroughly. When the dish arrived, I had to laugh. The portion was pretty petite. I can't imagine what the smaller chicken dish would look like. In any case, the duck was very good and the portion size was perfect. I almost ordered another starch, but the carmelized turnips that came on the plate were a great and satisfying complement. R. had the special, a pan-roasted mahi mahi with fingerling potatoes. Her plate was clean and dry by the time our server came back to clear the table. For dessert, we decided to share the creme brulee, although the Frozen Trio and the caramel apple tart were both tempting. It was the perfect end to a wonderful meal. I left La Petite Grocery feeling very satisfied by the high quality of the food and the appropriateness of the portions. I would highly recommend this restaurant to the local and visitor alike.
