La Peña Cultural Center in Berkeley CA Jan 11, 2011
La Peña Cultural Center in Berkeley CA 2010 is an arts and culture center. The main attraction outside is the mural and the main attraction inside is the music. It is both hot and mellow place to be. You pick your choice.

La Peña Directions -

"La Peña is located at 3105 Shattuck Avenue in south Berkeley, just 1/2 block from the Oakland border. We are three blocks south of Ashby Avenue and four blocks north of Alcatraz Avenue. The cross streets are Woolsey and Prince. We are next door to the Starry Plough.

From San Francisco & Peninsula:

Cross the Bay Bridge and take I-80 eastbound. Exit at Ashby Avenue. Follow Ashby Ave about 1.5 miles, then turn right on Shattuck Ave. and proceed three blocks to La Peña.

From the South Bay:

Take I-880 northbound to I-980 in Oakland. When I-980 turns into CA Highway 24 East, take the next exit: 51st Street/Martin Luther King. Stay in the right lanes of the off-ramp, and turn right onto 52nd Street, then immediately left onto Shattuck Ave. Proceed north one mile to La Peña

From Central Contra Costa:

Take CA Highway 24 westbound through the Caldecott Tunnel. Take Highway 13 North/Tunnel Rd. into Berkeley. Tunnel Rd. turns into Ashby Avenue. Follow Ashby to Shattuck Avenue and turn left on Shattuck. Proceed south 3 blocks to La Peña.

Public Transportation:

Bus: La Peña is served by AC Transit's #18 bus line, which stops at Shattuck and Woolsey St.

BART: From San Francisco or the south, take the Richmond line. From the north, take Fremont or San Francisco line and exit at Ashby station. As you exit the turnstile, exit on the West side and walk up the sidewalk on the left side of the parking lot, (staying close to the Bart station - no need to cross the parking lot) to Adeline Street. Cross Adeline Street and by continuing to walk straight ahead, you will be on Prince Street walking East to Shattuck (two blocks). At Shattuck, turn left, La Peña is on the East side of the street in the middle of the block with the big mural on the front of the building". directions copyright - La Peña Cultural Center
