La Mar Guadalajara Reviews
Mix with the young locals in a nice ambiance Jan 19, 2011
This is one of those places where you search a single thing you really enjoyed but cannot find one, yet the overall experience is almost always really nice.
This seafood restaurant is a place most frequented by the wealthy Guadalajara locals, and thus result in a place where commonly tables are put together by groups of friends that found each other there casually. That means the clients are almost always the same (in a city of 5 million, of course).
The whole place is designed like a terrace to take advantage of the wonderful climate of the city.
My favorite entreé is the "Chiles Toritos", which consists of 5 or 6 Güero Chiles prepared with a mix of black seasoning juices, hot sauce and lemons (not for the delicate stomach).
The Marlin tacos, with or without cheese are really good. You can also ask for the Jaiba tacos (crab), or the shrimp in tamarind sauce.
The ambiance consists mainly of young adults and families, ranging from 25 to 45 years old. Music is loud and local soccer games are always on display in the various LCD screens throughout the place.
Friday afternoons and Saturdays, the place becomes a bar where the locals meet with friends till about 12 am, when its time to continue at a night club or bar.
