La Maison du Cinéma Essaouira Reviews
Unique place Dec 29, 2013
The restaurant (and the hotel as we found out later) is situated in Medina only about 3 minutes walking distance from the 16th-century fortress.
The inside decor of the restaurant is very stylish and resembles the decor from the cinema lobby with photos of famous French actors/actresses displayed on the walls. It is a very charismatic place, pleasant and relaxing.
The service is quite exceptional itself. The restaurant was not even serving food when we arrived, but the owner quickly checked in the kitchen what they had so they could serve for lunch for us. She presented us with some great food choices and we decided to eat there.
Our lunch menu consisted of a traditional Moroccan soup, vegetable salad, selection of fresh bread, a chicken dish and a meat tagine dish. All was complimented with a bottle of local white wine.
We tried every dish and they all tasted exquisite. Lovely balanced flavours of well cooked traditional Moroccan dishes satisfied our appetites.
Before the meal was finished, we received an invitation for an evening French movie display in the restaurant. The idea was to watch the movie while enjoying your evening meal. As our plans were not yet set, we kindly declined the offer.
This is a must-visit place for the quality of the service and food was quite exceptional and the price tag very reasonable (average price paid per person - €5).
