Belgian Art Nouveau style house Dec 01, 2012
A great example of Belgian Art Nouveau style (called also Jugendstil or Secession in the other parts of Europe) designed by the famous Belgian architect Victor Horta. It is a good turn from overcrowded city centre of Brussels (at least during my visit in November last year it was). You can take a tram or simply a walk north from the city centre. When I was outside the house, just even the front of it is amazing. You can see typical features of this style - different from French or Austrian versions, which are more decorative, this one maybe closer to Mackintosh's austerity. Inside the building you can find practically everything designed in the style - floors, staircases, radiators with the motives, lamps, furniture, even a bathroom like that.

I liked this house and was pleased, that I diverted my way from the city centre. If you like architecture of the end of 19th and beginning of 20th century, you will not regret...
