La Libertad Vacation Guide
La Libertad, also known as "El Puerto", "Puerto La Libertad" is home to Central America's elite surf spot, La Punta. A 100+ feet ride of consistant head high waves. Right point break.
Back in the days, La Libertad, served as a main port for ships coming from Europe and Asia. As demand grew, El Puerto was deemed too small to handle cargo coming in and out of the country.
Sweden invested for a renovation and expansion, but US funded project, Puerto Acajutla, just 100Km west of La Libertad, took away over as a main port.
Today, La Libertad'e economy relies heavily on tourism. Both national and international crowds. Hotels, restaurants and events cater to tourists 7 days a week.
Night life: Not much of party night life, but rather, a serene beach atmosphere can be enjoyed among friends.
People: Friendly and respectful
Economy (US Currency): The economy is booming and as a result, banks, food chains, and shopping centers are opening their doors to people.
There are about three cyber centers where you can catch up to the world.
Budget: Food is enexpensive; however, restaurant's meals can cost you a lot more. Be mindful about hygene and perambulate kiosks selling food.

DAY 3: We woke up at 5pm the next day. Having a feeling that the S.South swell will fill in overnight, we were not dissapointed. Head high waves, glassy conditions enlighted our eyes before dawn. We paddled out. A light off- shore wind will make waves sprayed our faces as we sat t…

We arrived at the beach on the 10th anniversary of the signing of the peace accord to end the civil war, which is a huge holiday here. This unexpectedly ended up being a great big party, which impeded my sobriety goal quite quickly. We met a group of local boys who tried to drunkenly fill us …
