La Fourmi Ailee
La Fourmi Ailee Paris Reviews
Nice place for some tea May 01, 2011
This is a pleasant, attractive tea shop that does nice cakes, in Paris. I am reviewing it on that basis - it might also do full meals but I can't comment on that.
It has a long list of specialty teas, served in cast iron tea pots so it stays warm. I am very fond of speciality tea, and it isn't something I associate with being able to find on the continent (the Dutch in particular have a habit of serving you a cup of boiled water and a tea bag, making it almost impossible to brew nice tea) - I should have known Paris would have it figured out. :)
We also had a fantastic lemon and prune cake, which is one of the nicest lemon cakes I've ever had.
The cafe has a lovely atmosphere, clearly aimed at a studenty market, and I thought the decoration was lovely. Service was confused, but friendly - it took a very long time to get served but it was fine once we'd got the person to notice us. I would probably go back, but I would possibly bring some sort of flag to get teh waiter's attention!
