Excellent Traditional French Food in Paris Jan 12, 2015
One of our favorite streets in Paris was Rue Saint Dominique between Invalides and the Eiffel Tower. We found a lot of neat little boutiques, the best bakery in Paris and some great restaurants. Acting on a recommendation from a friend, we went to La Fontaine de Mars for dinner one night. We made sure to get a reservation as this place is packed every night. The restaurant is in a beautiful building and looks as if it should have been a set for a WWII movie. We found the staff to be very welcoming and polite, even if you don't speak French. The menu was nice, with choices ranging the full gamut of French cuisine as well as some other options for someone with finicky tastes. The ambiance inside was comfy, with about 4-5 tables in several small rooms scattered throughout the restaurant upstairs and down on 2 floors. The tables were slightly spread out so you didn't feel as if you were dining with the strangers next to you. The menu was slightly pricy, but the quality of the food was excellent so you go what you paid for. I would definitely go back here if I ever return to Paris.
