La Folie San Francisco Reviews
lively and extravagant Dec 11, 2015
La Folie is a high-end French bistro. It’s a place for a special occasion, for a memorable culinary experience.
A warm, friendly hostess greeting us as we walked into La Folie.
The décor is warm and inviting - mirrored walls, vaulted ceilings, perfectly dimmed lighting, deep rich colors- upscale but not pretentious. Modern elegance that was balanced nicely by a friendly waitstaff.
There is wine to choose from all corners of the globe. Expansive and impressive wine list, more look like a book.
La Folie features three different set menus:
3 course menu $100
4 course menu $120
5 course menu $140
Before we even ordered our first dish the chef sent out an “amuse bouche” to help wet our appetites.
Reading the menu alone was a fun adventure: Frogs Legs, Trio of Rabbit, Pig Feet. A clue that the evening will be an amazing culinary adventure.
The portion was just right, not too small, nor too big. Every dish served offers an element of surprise, even with the dishes you think you know, you are met with a plate full of culinary artistry that fills you full of wonder.
I took pictures under the dim lights with iPhone so they didn’t come out as great.
A memorable meal for my birthday (Thank you my sweetheart!) in a first class restaurant with first class service and food!
