La Feria De Abril
La Feria De Abril Sevilla Reviews
Fiesta Sevilla: La Feria de Abril Apr 27, 2011
Every April, after Easter, Sevilla gets festive with their April fair known as La Feria de Abril. The Feria is 6 days long beginning with a parade and ending with fireworks. The fairgrounds are lined up with tents (casetas) which are generally rented by families to hold private parties. There are a few tents, of course, which are open to the public. However, anyone can get invited to a private tent! So it's good to make friends! In these tents, the families and friends are partying, playing music, dancing, eating tapas and drinking wine.
Around the fairgrounds it is common to see men and women dressed up in traditional clothing. The men will wear the tight pants and the short jacket and the women will wear beautiful flamenco dresses.
I think the Feria evolved from a livestock type fair, but now it's much more than bulls and bullfighting -although that's still big there, of course!
The Feria is definitely worth a checking out if you're in Sevilla during that time.
